Israel Again Attacks Rafah, 12 Palestinians Killed

RAKATOTO, The Israeli military again launched air strikes in Rafah, southern Gaza. Gaza medical officials said that the attack on Thursday (30/5) early morning local time killed at least 12 Palestinians.
Reported by Al Arabiya, Friday (31/5/2024), Gaza medical sources said 12 Palestinians, said to be civilians, had been killed and a number of other people injured in Israeli air strikes on Rafah.

Medics said that another Palestinian civilian was killed in an airstrike on the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City.

Israel continues to carry out attacks on Rafah despite an order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the UN's highest court, to stop its attacks.

The Israeli military says it is trying to eradicate Hamas militias and rescue hostages being held there.

At least 36,224 people have been killed in the Gaza region during more than seven months of war between Israel and Hamas, the Health Ministry in Gaza said on Thursday.

The number includes at least 53 people who died in the last 24 hours, a Gaza Health Ministry statement said. It added that 81,777 people had been injured in the Gaza Strip since the war began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year.

Israel launched its offensive after Hamas militants crossed from Gaza into southern Israel on October 7 last year, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping more than 250, according to an Israeli tally.

The Israeli military said one soldier was killed in the latest fighting in northern Gaza, raising the number of Israeli soldiers killed to 292 since its first ground offensive in Gaza on October 20.
